Digital Signage

Offline playback

The lobby screen does not care that the internet went down at lunch

Every player keeps its plan and its files on local storage and plays from them. Indefinitely.

When the connection returns, the player reconciles with the server and catches up: alerts queued during the outage are delivered, and any content it missed is re-sent because the server compares what the screen reports holding against what it last pushed.

Nothing technical is ever shown to whoever is walking past. A screen running on cache looks exactly like a screen running normally, because to everyone except an engineer, it is.

What you get

  • Content plays from local storage with no time limit
  • The stored plan is on screen before the first network request is even made
  • Alerts queued while offline are delivered when the screen returns
  • The server re-sends content when a screen reports a version it should not have
  • No error text, no stack traces, no blank blue screens in a corridor
